The village of St Maximin dates back over 1,000 years and possibly even longer - ruins of an old Roman villa have been found nearby.
St Maximin is set amongst vineyards and cherry and apricot orchards. Just 2 minutes from the apartments you will find a number of local wine cellars. In St Maximin itself, there is an excellent restaurant, a cafe bar and a local shop.

Last visited May 2020. This lovely spacious apartment rentals in South France is very well situated for exploring nearby Uzes, Avignon, Nimes and the Pont du Gard. The nice terrace is a great space to relax, read a book and enjoy a glass or two of wine. If you are part of a larger party you can rent the adjoining apartments at this house in St Maximin, South France.

There are many things to see and do around theses St Maximin gites for rent in France. Within easy visiting distance of the magic places of Provence are Avignon, Nimes, Aix-en-Provence, St.Remy, Les Baux, Gordes, Roussillon, Menerbes, Lisle-sur-la-Sorgue, Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, Lourmain - and the host of little villages which lie between. The incomparable city of Avignon is 25 minutes away by car, and Pont du Gard, the famous 2000 year old Roman aqueduct is just 5 km away. Uzes, which boasts the best open air market in Provence, held every Saturday, is even closer. Experience the marvels of Provence: sun, blue skies, olive groves, fields of lavender and poppies, ancient stone villages, wonderful wines, food markets, sunflowers, siestas and cicadas.
The village of St Maximin has a restaurant/cafe open for lunch and diner (you must reserve it is very popular) and you can order bread for the morning. The nearest supermarket is a 10 minute walk.

Perfect place to relax
This location was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the south of France. From here Avignon and area was only 30 minutes away while and Uzes and the amazing Pont du Gard was only 9 minutes away. We stayed in the second floor apartment with our young family of four. I should note that the pull out bed in the kitchen should not be used by anyone greater than 100 pounds for more than a one night stay. The host is very approachable and helpful to get you set to see the sights or point out the best wine tours. Again this is a fantastic spot we would love to return to in the future! The apartment was well stocked for us to survive our first day before getting our bearings.
