This French farmhouse with pool to rent is a lovely rural property close to Carcassonne and Toulouse in South France. It is situated in a very peaceful location, but is close to the Canal du Midi, local restaurants and shops and a short drive to the cities of Toulouse and Carcassonne.

There is a boulangerie 3kms away and a farm shop within 1km. This French farmhouse to rent comes with lovely views over the Lauragais countryside. Closeby is the famous town of Castelnaudary, which has a full range of shops, supermarkets and restaurants. The farmhouse has 6 bathrooms, 5 bedrooms, 2 reception rooms as well as a large kitchen/diner. Outside there is a wonderful garden and large private pool. The farmhouse can sleep 10 people in comfort.

If you are looking for a wonderful French adventure with the family in the South of France, then this rural farmhouse located in between Toulouse and Carcassonne offers the perfect base. The farmhouse is large enough to accommodate an extended family of all ages, wanting to spend some quality time in France. The surrounding area has some lovely villages, with weekly markets and plenty to do and see. The farmhouse is very convenient for the airports in Toulouse and Carcassonne and provides easy access to the A61 motorway.

Close to this French farmhouse there is the charming village of St Paulet (2km) which has a local shop and restaurant. In the neighbouring village of Labastide-d´Anjou (5km), there is a really popular bar/restaurant, as well as a collection of shops and a pharmacy. Revel, with its famous Saturday market is just 15kms away and there is a lovely lake at St Ferriol. The medieval town of Mirepoix with it´s 12th Century timber covered walkways around the central market square is a reall joy to spend time in. The town is just 35 mins drive.
The famous Canal du Midi flows very close to the farmhouse (just 5 kms) and here you can hire barges or simply cycle along the tow path. The medieval Citadel of Carcassonne (a UNESCO world heritage site) is just 40kms away and the cosmopolitan city of Toulouse is just a 30 minute drive.
The Mediterranean coast is a 1 hour drive, with some lovely beaches at Gruissan Plage and Narbonne Plage. Barcelona is a 3 hour drive (2hours by train) and there is Skiing at Montseger (83km).

There is a TGV train station in Toulouse, with regular local train services to the nearby town of Castelnaudary.

The farmhouse is located in the small hamlet of La Peyre, just 2kms from the village of Saint Paulet. The A9 motorway is just 10 minutes away at Castelnaudary.
Wonderful 2 weeks
We had a wonderful 2 weeks in this large but cosy villa. The pool is perfect for cooling off when it gets too hot and the kids loved all the toys/inflatables in the beach house. The area is beautiful and very secluded. Be aware you will need a car for getting around. Castelnaudary (lovely) is 9km away and has cafes, bars and restaurants.

Thoroughly recommended
We stayed here for a week and would thoroughly recommend. The accommodation was really clean and the pool was to die for. Huge kitchen had a fantastic six burner range and a beautiful authentic wooden farmhouse table that seated 8. We could not fault the place. It is situated in an area which is easily accessible to Carcassonne and Toulouse.

simply beautiful
I stayed here for 10 days in mid April. This farmhouse is simply beautiful and the weather was lovely too. The house has everything you need with great facilities and is a perfect location for a family holiday. (The lovely pool was an added bonus). The surroundings are simply stunning and there are some amazing views from the house (including the Pyrenees mountains). The house is in a countryside location but the local towns are not far away at all. The location is perfect with plenty to do and see around the area and just over an hour to the Mediterranean coast. Also it is very easily accessible to several airports in the area making it easy for travelling.
