La Maison en Pierre holiday house to let in Aude, South France is located within the ramparts in the heart of Olonzac, capital of the Minervois wine region. Built in the 10th century but updated structurally and modernised, this holiday house to let in Aude is set on three storeys and sleeps up to 7 people in 3 bedrooms. This is a very private and quiet house to rent. This is an ideal self catering holiday house accommodation near Carcassone in the South of France. It is also perfect for exploring the excellent wines of the Minervois wine region.

This holiday house to let in Aude has 2 entrances, one up an alleyway from Grand Rue which closes the house off from the street and the other through the garage at the back of the property. The front door leads straight into the living and dining area and features exposed stone work, with a large working fireplace.
The kitchen leads off the dining area and is fully equipped with an oven, microwave and dishwasher. There is a toilet at the bottom of the staircase on the ground floor. Three double French doors lead out from the vacation rental onto a large and totally private courtyard with no visible neighbours. Outside dining/BBQ''s are a must and at night the whole area can be lit up with spotlights trained up the 30 foot high wall. Half the courtyard is tiled and the other half gravel. The washing machine and dryer are located in a small stone room off the courtyard. The garage, large enough for 2 cars, leads off the courtyard and out onto Rue Droit.
Ascending the staircase you reach the second floor of the holiday house where there are 2 large double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, 1 ensuite. 1 bathroom has a bath, bidet, toilet and shower and the other a hydromassage shower, toilet and double sink. Both have heated towel radiators. All bedrooms have fitted wardrobes.
On the next floor of the holiday house there is another bedroom with 2 single beds and a large landing with living area (and possible additional sleeping area).
The holiday house was totally refurbished in Autumn 2006 and is comfortably furnished throughout. It comes fully equipped with all bed linen and towels at no extra cost. There are no additional charges for cleaning or electricity (except in winter). Having only been opened for vacation rentals from December 2006 , all furnishings are of superior quality.
Amenities: Log Fireplace, Satellite TV (over 100 channels in English), DVD, CD, Wi-Fi internet, Fully equipped Kitchen with Microwave, Refrigerator / Freezer, Coffee Maker, Dishwasher, Linens provided. Washing machine and dryer. Every room is heated.

Maison en Pierre holiday house to let in Aude is available to rent on a weekly basis. The weekly prices are as follows:
Low season (Nov-Mar): €660
Early/Late season (Apr, May): €955
Mid season (June, Sep, Oct): €1,080
High season (July-Aug): €1,210
Linen and cleaning costs etc are all included in the prices for the holiday house. In mid and low season shorter stays are negotiable. For groups larger than 6 people, and additional charge of 100 euro is required.

This holiday house to let in Aude is ideal if you want to find self-catering holiday accommodation near the wonderful city of Carcassone. Olonzac is conveniently located to explore the Minervois wine region as well as the main sites of Languedoc Roussillon and the South of France. Maison en Pierre is fitted out to a high standard and represents exceptional value for money. This is an excellent holiday house to rent for 3 couples or a large family near Carcassonne.
Olonzac, with a population of 1600, is the meeting place of the Minervois wine region. This is where the people from the surrounding villages come to socialise and shop. With four restaurants, four cafes/bars, three patisseries, two supermarkets and many other shops selling everything from flowers to newspapers, there is everything here to meet your needs. Professional services include a range of doctors, dentists and banks.
Olonzac has a large municipal park of many varieties of mature trees, rose arbors, ponds with ducks and swans, tennis courts, boules courts and extensive lawns and gardens. The main boulevard is lined with huge plane trees, cafes and buildings of architectural interest. There is an archeological museum, tourism office and one of the best wine co-operatives in the Minervois wine region.
There is a wonderful Tuesday market in Olonzac, one of the biggest and best in the area. The market fills the main boulevard and winds up the narrow streets to fill the iron-roofed square in the heart of the ancient village. Displaying colourful goods and filled with the aromas of fresh foods and spices it is always a treat. The stall owners are a friendly group as are the town''s people. Flea markets and antique sales are regular events.
Carcassonne and its famous medieval castle, which has been seen in a number of films, has a wonderful covered market and an 18-hole golf course. For Bastille day, 14th July, Carcassonne becomes one of the busiest places in France and hosts a spectacular fire-works display.
The Olonzac and Minervois wine region offers a variety of things to do depending on the type of group you fall into.
For a family with young children the Mediterranean beaches are a must. The beaches are kept clean and dogs are not permitted on them. Swimming is safe with plenty of lifeguards in season. A trip through the etangs (salt lakes) that run from Narbonne down to Peyriac de Mer is worth the visit just to see the pink flamingos. A little further south is the African wild life park Sigean.
An afternoon boat ride on the Canal du Midi is a must. The departure takes place in Homps, 5km from Olonzac. Returning to your port of call, one could have a late afternoon drink or an al fresco dinner at one of the many restaurants right on the edge of the canal (read Languedoc Tourism pages).
Payments can be accepted in Euros, Pounds Sterling or Australian Dollars. In mid and low season shorter stays are negotiable.
Taxes, Heating, electricity, linen, cleaning costs etc are all included in the above prices. Upon request, linen can be changed over weekly at no extra cost for bookings longer than a week.
Wine, tea/coffee, basic fresh food essentials are provided to get you settled on your arrival.
If driving, Olonzac is only 20 minutes by the national highway off the main auto route.

If you are arriving by train you will find train stations at Narbonne (fast train connections to Paris from here) and Carcassonne both 30 minutes away. The station at Lezignan is only 15 minutes away, but has fewer trains.
