Au Vieux Castel is a luxury holiday accommodation in the South of France which sleeps up to 12 guests in its 4 bedrooms. The property is located in the heart of a beautiful medieval village of Nezignan L´Eveque close to the Mediterranean coast and the popular town of Pezenas. The property dates back to the 14th Century and successfully combines stunning old stonework and exposed beams, with 21st Century fixtures and fittings. There is an inner courtyard with bar and dining area, a heated plunge pool and 2 terraces with stunning views.

Last visited May 2020. This luxury holiday accommodation is in the heart of the village so walk able to all the amenities. You can also walk out into the vineyards within a few minutes. The property is finished to a luxurious standard whilst keeping many of the original features. If you are a large group or family this accommodation is perfect if you wish to holiday near the beaches and Pezenas in the South of France.

This luxury accommodation South of France is an ideal choice for a family holiday with sandy Mediterranean beaches 15 minutes away - visit Grau d´Agde, Portiragnes Plage and Valras Plage. The village has a range of shops including a baker, mobile butcher, newsagent, grocer, post office, tourist office, hairdresser, bar, hotel/restaurant and medical centre. Nezignan L´Eveque holds a Music and Wine Festival every July. Other celebrations include Fete L´Ete (June), Bastille (July), Fete Local (July.) There are 3 play areas, skate park, basketball court, football pitch and tennis courts.
The surrounding area is a wine lover´s paradise with a multitude of local vineyards providing some excellent wines.
A 5 minute drive from the lively medieval town of Pezenas, home of Moliere, with its period architecture and a great choice of restaurants, pavement cafes, art galleries, museums, boutiques and a super Saturday market.
The Canal du Midi, listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO is 15 minutes away. The canal is ideal for hiring barges, cycling or walking along the towpath.
There is superb walking available in the Montagnes Noires, there is also Lac Salagou for wonderful freshwater lake swimming and water sports.
Close by are the cities of Beziers (15mins), Montpellier (50mins), Carcassonne (60mins) and Nimes (90mins.)
Other transport
There is a TGV train station in the nearby towns of Beziers and Agde. There is a regular bus service in between Nezignan l´Eveque and Agde.

A very special home in a historic village.
Maison de Maitre is a beautifully restored 14th Century house in a well-preserved medieval village a few kilometers from Pezenas, the jewel of this region of the Languedoc Roussillon. The materials used and the creative use of the spaces in the tower structure make a stunning impression. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and especially appreciated the views from all levels of the house out over the village and the surrounds. The sunsets were fabulous.
This region rewards true lovers of rural France and the lively market and shops and craftsman of Pezenas are a treat.

Amazing and enchanting
This house is even more beautiful than the pictures can depict. The Town is quaint and beautiful. Such a feeling of ancient history. Close to larger towns with beautiful walks by vineyards, olive groves and fig trees. The house fully applianced and very up to date kitchen and bathrooms. Owner is a pleasure and accessible as well as his staff. Thank you ... the 6 of us couldn`t have had a better experience.

Fantastic property in a beautiful, friendly village
The property is well presented and situated within a wonderful, friendly village. Lots of room to socialise and there`s nothing better than to watch the sun go down from the Belvedere, glass of wine in hand. Carcassonne medieval city, Canal du Midi wine cruise (courtesy of Vin et Vacance) highly recommended.

A wonderful time was had by all
We stayed here with family members coming and going over a 12 day period. It was a great gathering spot. Some of our adult children went to the pizza restaurant just around the corner most nights and were coaxed in their French! They enjoyed those evenings immensely! The weather was not conducive to pool use, but we did not miss it. Lots of road trips from this location. Carcassonne, St. Guilhem, La Couvertoirade, S?te, Meze. Chateau de Queribus and Peyrepertuse. And the gorges! D`Heric, de Herault, and the unforgettable drive on the Gorges de Galamus road!!!

Highly recommended
This is a wonderful property, well maintained and well located. The property itself is a brilliant mixture of old world charm and modern convenience. It is located in a charming village quite close to P?zenas for local colour and needs and the motorway for longer day journeys to cities such as Nimes Montpellier Carcasson and Narbonne. We had 3 couples stay for 10 days and were very comfortable and well entertained.
